SniffTest is another new website. Why should you trust us?

We are not after your wallet or your logins. Here is what we do instead, and how we keep a URL check as boringly safe as we can make it.

If you have spent any time reading scam advice, you have heard it a hundred times: be careful which sites you trust. So here we are, a site you may have only just heard of, asking you to paste a link. The irony is not lost on us.

Fair question. Here is the straight answer.

We are not asking for your money

SniffTest is free. There is no checkout, no subscription wall, no "unlock full results" button, no crypto wallet address in the footer. If a page that looks like us starts asking for payment to "verify" or "secure" your account, that is not us.

We are not asking you to log in anywhere

The checker does not need your bank, your email provider, your social accounts, or a SniffTest account. You paste a URL, we run our checks, you get a score and a plain-English verdict. That is the whole loop.

We are here to help you decide whether some other site looks dodgy - not to become the site you have to trust with your credentials.

What we actually do on the security side

We have tried to build SniffTest so it behaves the way we would want a paranoid friend to behave: useful, but not nosy.

  • No cookies and no third-party tracking on the main experience. We are not building a profile of you while you browse.
  • No localStorage for tracking. Recent checks on the homepage live in your browser tab only until you refresh or close it - we never see that list.
  • We do not store or log the URLs you check as a matter of course. The only thing we need for a check is the address you send us for that request. Full details are in our privacy policy.
  • When you use Share, we save an anonymous snapshot (URL, verdict, signals, reason, timestamp) so the permalink stays stable. That is optional - you have to choose it.
  • Optional email is only for product updates if you sign up via the waitlist form. We do not use it to blast marketing at you, and you can ask to be removed at any time.

Behind the scenes, checks run against reputable security signals - safe-browsing feeds, domain registration data, fraud-reputation services. Those partners see the domain or URL being evaluated, not who you are, because we are not sending them that.

Why the infrastructure makes this easier to keep

A lot of privacy promises are well-intentioned but hard to maintain as a site grows. We have tried to make SniffTest's privacy properties structural rather than just policy.

The checker runs as a serverless function on Cloudflare Workers - a platform where there is no persistent server process, no database of user requests, and no file system to accidentally log things into. Each check is a stateless transaction: you send a URL, we run 17 parallel lookups, we return a result, the request is gone. There is no mechanism in the current architecture to accumulate a history of what you have checked, because we never built one.

That is partly principle and partly laziness in the best sense - storing URLs would mean building storage infrastructure, access controls, data retention policies, and deletion workflows. We would rather not have any of that to maintain.

The frontend is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. There is no backend rendering, no session management, no server-side state. Recent checks live in your browser's memory only, and vanish when you close the tab.

None of this means we are technically perfect. But it does mean the risk surface is smaller by design, not by discipline.

How to check that we are who we say we are

This is the part we like. You can run SniffTest through SniffTest.

Paste doasnifftest.com into the checker. You should see a low risk score, a clean domain age, a real HTTPS certificate, no blocklist hits, and no brand impersonation signals. If the site you are on cannot pass its own test, that would be worth knowing.

Beyond that: the real SniffTest lives at doasnifftest.com only. We do not have mirror sites, partner portals, or regional versions. If you arrived here via a link and the address bar shows anything other than doasnifftest.com, that is not us.

You can also read exactly what we check and why. Every signal in the verdict has a plain-English explanation. If a tool cannot explain how it reaches a conclusion, that is worth being sceptical about.

The honest bit

No tool can promise perfect truth every time. Scammers move fast; signals can lag or misfire. What we can promise is intent: we built SniffTest to give you a second opinion before you click, pay, or log in elsewhere - without turning you into the product.

If something still feels off about us, that is healthy scepticism. Read the privacy policy, run a harmless well-known site through the checker, or drop us a line. We would rather you asked than assumed.

When you are ready: run a check.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does SniffTest store the URLs I check?

A: No. URLs are not logged or stored as part of a normal check. The only exception is when you choose to share a result - in that case, an anonymous snapshot of the result (the URL, verdict, signals, and timestamp) is saved so the permalink stays stable. No account is required and nothing is linked to your identity.

Q: Does SniffTest use cookies or tracking?

A: No tracking cookies and no third-party analytics on the main checking experience. We use GA4 page view data to understand how the site is used in aggregate - no individual URL checks are tracked or sent to Google.

Q: Is SniffTest actually free?

A: Yes, completely. No subscription, no freemium gate, no "unlock full results" upsell. If you see a site that looks like SniffTest asking for payment, it is not us.

Q: Who built SniffTest?

A: SniffTest is an independent tool built to give consumers a fast, privacy-respecting way to check suspicious links. We have no affiliation with the sites we check, no advertising relationships with security vendors, and no financial interest in any verdict we return.

Q: What should I do if I think SniffTest gave me a wrong result?

A: Use the feedback button on any result page - it goes directly to us. We take accuracy seriously: a false positive (flagging a legitimate site as dangerous) is just as much a problem as a miss. No tool is perfect, but we want to know when something looks wrong.
